The Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic (ABCe) is considering reporting traffic to its members websites from mobile devices.
The bureau will look at how metrics approved by Joint Industry Commission for Web Standards (JICWEBS) could be implemented to measure and report mobile traffic.
The initiative is in response to calls for an industry-wide metric for mobile led by the GSM Association (GSMA), the trade association for mobile operators, who will work with ABCe on the project.
In March News International began measuring traffic from mobiles to The Sun, The Times, News of the World and Sky as part of similar plans to introduce a standard measurement system for web traffic over mobiles.
