TL;DR: We're a B2B publishing brand dedicated to the journalism industry. For 26 years, we've been a trusted hub for news, training, jobs, directories, awards, press release distribution, and our flagship conference Newsrewired. We were previously known as Journalism.co.uk, a publication founded by John Thompson in 1999.

Full story
We launched in 1999, back when most people thought the internet was a fad.
Over 26 years, we've grown from a scrappy startup into a trusted hub where journalists, editors, freelancers, media tech companies, creators, and academics come to learn, connect, and figure out what's next.
What we do
We publish news, analysis, and practical guides about digital publishing. We run job boards, host media training, maintain industry directories, and distribute press releases.

Our flagship event, Newsrewired, happens in London each spring and autumn. For 35 conferences and counting, we've brought together 180 media professionals at a time to explore innovations before they become trends and leave with ideas they can actually use in their newsrooms.
We've published over 100,000 articles. That's a lot of words about journalism, but someone's got to document how this industry keeps reinventing itself.
Why we're different
We connect worlds that don't always talk to each other: journalism, tech, and academia. We bring them together to solve journalism's burning problems and build a community that shares knowledge instead of hoarding it.
We're independently owned. No investors. No shareholders. No one's going to buy us out or pivot us into an AI content farm. When we say we're here for the long haul, we mean it.
A new chapter
In May 2025, we changed ownership for the first time in our history. After seven years as editor, Marcela Kunova bought the company to keep it independent, continue our mission, and modernise everything about how we work.
Marcela's philosophy is simple: journalism is a two-way street. We listen as much as we talk. We build our product with people, not for them. User feedback isn't something we collect and ignore, it's how we make decisions.
Who we are
We're three people doing the work of a small army: Marcela Kunova leads the charge, Jacob Granger is our community editor, and Ophelia Birch handles growth. We're not hierarchical in that org-chart way. Everyone here is passionate, skilled, and has autonomy over their work. That's what happens when you trust people to do their jobs.
It's proof that small teams can achieve big things when they're focused and care about what they're doing.
Who you are
You're journalists, editors, freelancers, media tech innovators, creators, academics, and anyone who gives a damn about the future of news. You're decision-makers who need to stay ahead. You're learners who want new skills. You're professionals who value connecting with peers and sharing what you know.
You don't want hogwash. You want straight talk, practical insights, and a community that gets it. That's exactly what we're here for.
Our values
Independence — We answer to our readers, not investors or shareholders.
Innovation — We explore what's next so you can see it coming.
Community — This isn't broadcast. We're building something together.
Ethics — We do journalism about journalism, and we hold ourselves to the same standards we expect from the industry.
Fairness — Everyone gets heard. We're not here to amplify the loudest voices but the smartest ideas.
Warmth — This industry is hard enough. We don't need to make it harder for each other.
Safety — We create spaces where people can share, learn, and connect without fear.
Excellence — We care about getting things right and doing work that matters.
