The Global E-News Immersion Initiative (GENII) brings together 130 students from six universities from around the world, to work on reporting global stories using technology and social media to source and put together multimedia pieces about lifestyle and culture.

Students from institutions as far afield as Fresno State in the United States, Coventry University in the UK, and Rafik Hariri University in Lebanon are paired up to cover stories based on each other's locations, taking turns to act as editorial leads or digital fixers.

In this week's podcast, Journalism.co.uk speaks to Priya Rajasekar, who teaches multimedia journalism at Coventry University, to find out more about the aims of the project and how it works in practice.
