Associated Northcliffe Digita l has seen revenue rise by nearly half as owners the Daily Mail and Trust Group (DMGT) reported a 'good start' to the financial year.

Revenue was up 141 per cent year on year at AN Digital (48 per cent excluding acquisitions) and Associated's newspaper circulation revenues for the five months to February 2007 were 5 per cent above the same period last year. Total advertising revenues increased by 10 per cent on its papers.

Display advertising revenues increased by 4 per cent while classified advertising revenues, including those of the Evening Standard, were down by 8 per cent - DMGT said in a trading statement to the City.

The group said increased operating profits from its business-to-business divisions had also aided growth.

The group reported that for the same period Northcliffe Media advertising revenues were 3 per cent below the comparable period last year. Recruitment revenues were down 4 per cent and motors revenue fell by 13 per cent.

However, recruitment advertising had led revenues from digital publishing in the regions to rise by 57 per cent over the previous year.
