The Telegraph Media Group scooped the top award at last night's Association of Online Publishers awards.

The Telegraph, which had been shortlisted for 11 awards including four nominations for My Telegraph , was crowned online consumer publisher of the year, beating off competition from The Guardian, The Sun and Emap.

Overall, nine of the 16 prizes up for grabs last night were won by the digital wings of newspaper groups.

The judging panel praised the Telegraph, saying it had lead the way, over the last 12-months, with 'the bravest attempt yet to re-engineer its complete organisation, a restructuring which reflects the importance of its online offering.'

It was also a good night for Trinity Mirror's GazetteLive website, which took both the online consumer website of the year award and the title of best online community.

The site, which was named regional website of the year in industry awards in June, was described by judges as a 'new benchmark for local news sites' and 'a great example of how to make local news real, with relevant interactivity'.

Of the 16 awards up for grabs, The Guardian walked away with three with its weekly Islamophonic programme named as best podcast.

GNM also claimed the innovation prize for Secondfest , a film and music festival in virtual world SecondLife, and best digital creativity prize for its Amis on Blair feature - a multimedia project looking at Tony Blair's last days as Prime minister.

Sun Online won best use of video, pipping Sky to the post, and the design award, while FT.com was named best consumer editorial team.

A full list of the awards, which received a record 320 entries this year, can be found below. The winners of each are highlighted.
