Hearst Digital has named Chris Deary as online community manager for Cosmopolitan.co.uk .

Deary joins the site from The Sun, where he spent a year as community executive of its MYSun platform.

In this role he helped launched the site's Girl Next Door application for social networks Facebook and MySpace.

Prior to this, he was a staff writer at Programme Master, where he worked on producing contract sports magazines.

As community manager, Deary will over see user-generated content and user interaction on the site.

His appointment comes as the site prepares to phase in new services developed by social media firm Pluck and ramp up its user interaction.

The use of Pluck, which follows the relaunch of the Cosmopolitan site in April , will enable uploading of user-generated content and blogging.

Hearst Digital has already implemented Pluck's SiteLife platform on sister website Allaboutyou.com .
