Emap has appointed Jonathan Turpin to the new role of digital development director for radio.

The role is the first appointment of three new posts - for radio, specialist and lifestyle - created to develop multi-media brands and look at ways of stretching existing brands across different platforms.

Mr Turpin will work alongside Dee Ford, managing director of Emap Radio, and Travis Baxter, MD of the Big City network, to develop radio's digital strategy.

He joins Emap after spending six years at Fish4 digital businesses where he was chief executive and the last year as head of portal implementation at AOL Europe.

Dee Ford said: "Digital will play an ever increasing role in revenue generation across the whole of radio: be that improving the offerings across our station websites or looking for the next growth opportunity in distribution or personalised consumption.

"We're delighted to welcome Jonathan to our team and look forward to further strengthening our digital position."
