The first regional newspaper company has signed up for ITN's growing Premium News Network.

ITN On multimedia content will now appear on Midland News Association's websites Expressandstar.com and Shropshirestar.com.

In the network scheme, ITN provides a video news player funded by advertising sold through blinkx, the international video search engine , and supplies national, regional and local websites with home, international, sports, showbiz and money news.

Advertising revenue is then shared between the three parties: blinkx, ITN and the news website. Mailonline , ITN.co.uk and Express Group websites have already signed up to the deal.

"I look forward to further partnerships with media outlets in regions throughout the UK. The Premium News Network enables us to deliver publishers a proven product which comes at no cost to them," said John Hardie, ITN CEO, said in the release.

"The result is the addition of high quality video journalism from ITN, a more engaging website for users and ultimately a fresh revenue stream for all parties involved."

In separate arrangements, ITN On has previously entered online deals with Joost , the online television platform , and Daily Motion , the French video-sharing site. ITV.com axed its contract for the provision of online news by ITN On in July this year and a new ITV website is currently in development.
