The annual Freelancer of the Year Awards , organised by Xchangeteam and sponsored by FreelanceUK, have opened for entries for 2009.

Freelances in the marketing, media and communications sectors, who have been freelancing since December 2008, are invited to apply for the awards.

Candidates can be nominated by clients and colleagues or by themselves. Nominations can be made online .

A panel of judges from the marketing, media and communications community will select six category winners and one overall winner, who will be crowned Freelancer of the Year 2009.

The six categories are advertising and design (creative or account management); digital excellence; editorial; events; marketing/PR; and communications and public affairs.

This year's winning freelancers will receive their prizes at an awards ceremony next March.
