Regular contributor to: Who Do You Think You Are?, Student Money Matters.
I have written for a wide variety of publications including the TES, The Express, HomeStyle, Antiques & Collectables, Who Do You Think You Are?, Your Family Tree and Take a Break.
I specialise in features on homes and interiors, history and heritage, personal finance, children's reference, the environment and education. Commissions have been as diverse as reporting on a school's environmental club and writing about the life of Edward Elgar through to a buyer's guide to lighting and writing teacher's notes for a CD-Rom about the Victorians.
In addition to my feature and copywriting, I am the author of eight non-fiction history books: Christmas Cards (Shire Books, 1999), Life in the Victorian & Edwardian Workhouse (The History Press, 2007), Prison Life in Victorian England (The History Press, 2007), Life in the Victorian Hospital (The History Press, 2009), Tracing Your Medical Ancestors (Pen & Sword, 2011), Tracing Your Servant Ancestors (Pen & Sword, 2012), A Visitor's Guide to Victorian England (Pen & Sword, 2014) and Servants' Stories (Pen & Sword, 2015).
Other information: I pride myself on being able to tailor my writing to suit the style and readership of individual publications and markets, within agreed timescales and budgets. I am always looking for new challenges so I am happy to consider any writing project, large or small.
