About me
I began my journalism career at The Kentish Times in 2003, where I worked as a senior news reporter and co-arts editor for four years. I then moved into B2B publishing, working on drinks titles - both print and online - before taking on the role of editor at BigHospitality.

At BigHospitality (my last permanent role) I created a content strategy for the website and managed a team of two other journalists while also writing news and features, creating videos, podcasts and photo galleries. My role included overseeing the publication's social media accounts and compiling a daily newsletter.

Since becoming a freelance journalist I have written features for The Morning Advertiser, provided interviews with top hospitality names as interviews editor at Hospitality & Catering News, written a bi-weekly food trends column for Food Spark (now closed) and more recently, Micropub Magazine. I have also written for Scotchwhisky.com (now closed) and created content for commercial clients, including pharmaceutical company TEVA and technology company Access. My freelance work has included copywriting as account and content manager for hospitality marketing and PR consultancy Custard.

In 2020 I co-launched podcast Sounding Out Horsham which features local voices.

I am highly organised and efficient and my extensive experience as a journalist and copywriter in both print and online means I am able to both follow briefs and set them depending on requirements. I am SEO-trained for digital while also understanding requirements for print. I am able to turn copy around quickly and am always mindful of the target reader to ensure that content has the desired impact.

I am comfortable interviewing people from all walks of life - from independent business owners and chefs to celebrities and CEOs. I can cover a wide-range of subjects, although my experience has principally been in writing about hospitality and food and drink in the latter part of my career.
