Richard Reed

Regular contributor to: The Times (sub-editor, business desk); Financial Times (sub-editor, Investment Adviser); AltAssets (production editor); Better Business magazine (production editor, feature writer); Centaur Media (production editor/sub-editor); Citywire Financial Publishers (sub-editor); Future Publishing (feature writer); RICS Business (feature writer); Property Square (feature writer); Practical Boat Owner (feature writer).

Other information: I am a newspaper-trained journalist specialising in business, with regular freelance contracts as production editor, sub-editor and features writer – including an 18-month stint at the Financial Times.

I have 20 years' experience of designing and editing newspapers and magazines, and all the skills that go with that – managing complex projects, meeting tight production deadlines, keeping a wary eye open for libel, and commissioning freelance writers.

I started my career in regional newspapers, where I worked at a senior level before becoming editor of Better Business magazine. As editor I was responsible not only for commissioning and editing the content, but all aspects of design and production.

I produce publications on a regular basis for AltAssets (www.altassets.net), and helped the company to design and produce the launch issues of two magazines.

I am a good team player, and I have an in-depth understanding of production needs and deadlines. My newspaper background enables me to turn turgid prose into bright, readable copy, and as an NCTJ-trained journalist I have a good understanding of legal issues, including copyright and defamation.

I am fluent in InDesign, Quark Xpress, Photoshop and Word, and I am familiar with content management systems.
