Johnston Press has signed up to the Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic's (ABCe) new six-month certificate, a release from the ABCe has said.
The publisher joins fellow regional newspaper group Northcliffe media, which agreed to participate in the new audits in September .
The six-month certificate will break down web traffic to its sites into daily, weekly and monthly unique user/browsers.
The group will now regularly report figures for its portfolio of local websites with separate statistics for 10 local newspaper sites, including yorkshirepost.co.uk, portsmouth.co.uk and sunderlandecho.com, and its Yorkshire network.
"ABCe audited data provides advertisers with a robust currency on which media space can be bought and delivers to the market independent assurance that our websites are attracting substantial audiences," said Chris Pennock, group newspaper sales and marketing director at Johnston Press, in the release.
The group is also set to publish findings from research into its online audience carried out by Survey Interactive, Pennock added.
