Legal Week has overhauled its website to incorporate Web 2.0 community features and added 50 per cent to its online readership.

"We did some interactive things last year, which were more modest, and we were really pleased with the feedback from that," Alex Novarese, deputy editor, told Journalism.co.uk.

"We also found that it gave us another dimension that we didn't already get.

"We tended to focus on the senior end of the profession but we found that we were tapping into some completely different viewpoints that were very fresh - [the Web 2.0 revamp] was about extending that."

Mr Novarese added that adopting new interactive features and the growth in popularity of the site had led to a 50 per cent rise in its readership.

Features include a wiki guide to UK and US law firms and blogs from editorial staff and leading industry figures. The relaunch, in mid January, incorporating these elements has added 10,000 monthly unique users to the publication.

The site, which was redesigned by Madgex , also incorporates several new interactive features: Talkback, an area for readers to discuss stories; a career clinic for career dilemmas and a social events calendar.
