Community Content Editor - Brighton

The Brighton Argus is looking for a new community content editor to develop a sustainable source of engaging community network content for our print products and websites. We want somebody who can build up contacts on social media and in the community to help bring in engaging content and keep our readers at the centre of everything we do. You will use the fantastic information and pictures they send in to help celebrate the community.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist Editors by developing and managing a sustainable source of engaging community network content
  • To work with communities or contacts to build relationships and bring in great content
  • To be responsible for setting up content sources and assist with producing new platforms for print and online by taking complete ownership of them including uploading of content to our websites and social media platforms
  • Have great people skills – know how to the get the best out of contributors, be able to offer constructive criticism, while making them feel valued
  • To manage the relevant Camera Club to ensure regular content is provided to our titles
  • To hold regular forums with groups of user generated content contributors to build strong relationships and develop high quality engaging content from them
  • Share best practice and ideas on regular Teams meetings with other Community Content Editors
  • Be able to spot good stories hidden in raw copy
  • Be organised and able to meet deadlines
  • To when necessary in the most efficient way train the user generated contributors on using our online product tools to provide multimedia content
  • To work with the Digital ACE on best ways of sharing user generated content across all platforms for maximum engagement
  • To travel when necessary and required to other newsrooms to assist in developing the user generated content strategy
  • To work with newsrooms to develop a forward plan for user generated content around big events
  • To monitor traffic to analyse the success of user generated content and highlight particular wins to newsrooms
  • To be fully aware of the company’s code of conduct and to maintain that code at all times.
  • To meet as necessary with the Editors to discuss and develop the user generated content strategy
  • To understand and to abide by the IPSO Code of Practice.
  • To be aware of and understand the company policy relating to our websites and social networking and ensure that policy is being met at all times.
     
  • To act professionally and in the best interests of Newsquest’s reputation when using any social media site as a Newsquest employee.
  • Adhere to the Editors' Code of Conduct and the company's own ethical standards at all times
  • Have a sound knowledge of media law and the regulatory framework
     
  • Be NCTJ qualified or working towards the NCTJ, particularly in law
