The East Lothian Courier is seeking a talented reporter to unearth the best news, features and leisure stories on a lively news and sports patch.

We need a journalist who can help us tell the stories our audiences care about - from crime to human interest tales, while also championing our towns and villages and the people who live here.

You will be a self-starting, hard-working journalist, full of ideas on how to source and produce the best articles and get the most out of them digitally and for print.

You will be willing to embrace the latest digital techniques, produce live blogs and videos, and immerse yourself in social media in order to dig out the exclusive stories we are looking for.

Getting out into the community to develop relationships, attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and engaging copy for our various online and social platforms – and our award-winning print edition - are essential requirements of the job.

For three days a week, you will be based at our office in Haddington, while working from home/in the community for the rest of the week. There is some out-of-hours work.

The position would suit a recently qualified trainee, preferably with gold standard NCTJ preliminary qualifications or equivalent, including 100wpm shorthand, or someone with more experience.

A driving licence is essential, as is access to a car.
