Haymarket Consumer Media has appointed Gary Parkinson as the new editor of FourFourTwo.com.

He joins the football website from FourFourTwo magazine where he was deputy editor.

His new role will see him overseeing the expanding portfolio of websites from FourFourTwo, including Planet Football, the amateur-football Weekend Wonders site and a new launch planned for later in the year, he told Journalism.co.uk.

Commenting on his new role, Parkinson, said: "FourFourTwo has long been recognised as the leading football magazine brand in the UK and is well-respected around the world. The challenge is to claw the same kudos for the brand's online presence in a crowded, well-entrenched market which includes some very big hitters indeed."

Before joining Haymarket, Parkinson worked for various publishers and titles including the Press Association, Emap and various titles at Haymarket such as The Net, What Hi-Fi and Stuff.
