Job title: Booking Producer, Going Underground

RT’s UK office is looking for a full time, London-based news/current affairs booking producer for Going Underground, a 3 weekly current affairs series, on a 1-year contract with a view to becoming permanent.

Education to degree level, experience in booking guests for programming, together with an in-depth knowledge of politics, history and culture of both the UK and the rest of the world. 

The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic and have experience of booking current affairs, news and culture guests for programming. They will demonstrate great editorial judgement, strong writing and communication skills and the ability to work both on their own and as part of a team. All of our staff are expected to be ready to go beyond what is essential for the role (working odd hours, occasionally weekends and holidays).

Programming booking producers will be expected to research stories, build relationships with a wide network of media institutions through networking. Invite relevant guest speakers for pre-recorded interviews and follow story developments. They’ll also search events to include in both short and long-term planning of the news agenda and generating and pitching ideas. The successful candidate will have their own contact database and the right to work in the UK.

RT is an English language 24 hour TV news channel broadcasting from Moscow and London. The channel brings an alternative news agenda to the audience of more than 600 million people around the globe delivering stories often missed by the mainstream media to create news with an edge.
