Chief reporter - East London

Are you a senior reporter looking to take the first step in management while continuing to report on key issues within a community? We are looking for an experienced and ambitious journalist to take the lead in supporting the editor for our Romford, Ilford and Kent news titles based in Barking.

The ideal candidate will understand the challenges of producing insightful and in-depth journalism across whatever platform our audience chooses to engage, can inspire and educate young reporters, and is prepared to represent the brand as an ambassador in the community.

We are looking for a self-starter with drive and enthusiasm, who is keen to begin the next step of their career overseeing the operations across titles in east London. Alongside the editor, you will help to shape the brands’ content across all platforms and welcome our policy of putting our audience first in everything we do.

We are looking for outstanding candidates who are comfortable reporting on all aspects of community life, boast a fantastic grasp of digital publishing, and have a wealth of strong ideas and a portfolio bulging with first-rate stories.

IT IS ESSENTIAL YOU HAVE:

  • Senior NQJ qualification
  • Proven history of creating engaging content
  • Confident digital and social media skills
  • Extensive newsroom experience
  • Ability to create / use video to bring stories to life
  • Dig out and create new ideas and stories
