The Premier Christianity Magazine Freelance News and Features Journalist should maintain editorial content to the ethos, values and broad theological evangelical spectrum of Premier Christianity Magazine. The post holder will need to be able to offer three days worth of work per week. They will also manage the magazine’s news pages, adapting radio/web stories for use in the printed magazine format.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attending daily meetings to discuss day's activities and blog options.

  • Attending bi weekly planning/brainstorm meeting for the magazine.

  • Subbing and proofing of articles and features and final designs for the magazine.

  • Assisting the Deputy Editor in overseeing, compiling and editing monthly Q&A, books and CD reviews pages for the magazine.

  • Assisting the Deputy Editor in writing the news analysis and news pages of the magazine each month

  • Researching and writing one or two of the features for the magazine each month.

  • Arranging and conducting interviews for the magazine with potential use also on radio/video.

  • Assisting the Deputy Editor in commissioning/writing blog posts for the website.

  • Chasing higher profile interview subjects.

  • Joining in our monthly podcast.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A successful track record in writing and editing, especially experience in news writing

  • Understanding of and ideally experience in working across media platforms

  • An understanding, knowledge and sympathy with Christian ministry

  • Professional journalism qualifications and understanding of media laws is preferable

  • Good computer literacy is essential and written and oral communication skills

  • Competent administration skills, multi-tasking, prioritising and organisational skills

  • Cross platform (radio, web and print) experience would be preferable

  • Places high value on a professional level editorial quality and service to all platform consumers
