The vision of Global Witness is simple: we want a better world - where corruption is challenged and accountability prevails, all can thrive within the planet’s boundaries, and governments act in the public interest.
We’ve been creating change for over 20 years, from alerting the world to blood diamonds to halting forest destruction deals. Our investigations have changed the world.
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented data analyst or data journalist to join Global Witness as a data advisor.
About the role
This role will work collaboratively across the organisation, supporting our researchers to find hard-hitting stories about corruption and environmental destruction in public and leaked data.
It is a great opportunity to be part of an ambitious team seeking to re-think how data and technology can be used to uncover and fight global corruption.
You’ll have outstanding data skills with the ability to extract, transform and analyse a range of datasets for investigative purposes. You will be able to create compelling visual and written stories about these findings for a broad audience.
You will have experience collecting and compiling data for research purposes as well as building databases that enable effective analysis. You’ll have good experience and knowledge of open source research techniques, such as web based discovery, social media investigation and digital verification.
Finally, you’ll be a team player able to train others in the use of data-driven techniques. You also have experience collaborating with developers to help build websites and interactives for specific audiences.
