Zoopla is looking to recruit a data visualisation designer to take ownership of a brand new role within one of the largest and most exciting businesses in the UK. Zoopla’s mission is to be the first place that people visit when they want to make smarter property decisions - and rich, engaging, original visualisations are a key part of realising that vision.

Working out of Zoopla’s office in the shadow of Tower Bridge, your visualisations, whether they are simple cartograms or something that puts the Minard graphic to shame, will be the foundation of a new content strategy across Zoopla.

Key responsibilities

  • Ownership of the strategy, design and creation of data visualisations to be used across the Zoopla portfolio of digital properties
  • Collaborate with Zoopla’s Head of Content and stakeholders from SEO, Product, and Brand to develop original visualisations that help forward the company’s mission
  • Create and own best practices to accelerate output and impact of data visualisation at Zoopla
  • Wrangling some of the richest and deepest data repositories in the country into useful visualisations, presentations, and dashboards

Essential skills required

  • Strong experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Strong experience with planning, researching, designing, and creating data-led visualisations from complex data sets
  • Strong experience with SQL
  • Good knowledge of the UK property market - ideally you have created property, area, or demographic visualisations before
  • Good experience with Python, R, or similar
  • Good experience with parsing, scraping, and wrangling new or noisy data sets
  • Exposure to analytics (GA, Omniture, etc.) and reporting (slides, dashboards, etc.)
  • Exposure to CMSes
  • Exposure to data journalism, data science, or related areas
  • Exposure to journalistic principles
  • Exposure to data-led and/or visual journalism
  • Exposure to public relations and what makes a good story
