Deputy Editor, Aceville Publications

Full-time position, office-based in Colchester

Aceville Publications is looking for a deputy editor to join our busy, commercial and creative health and lifestyle editorial department. The ideal candidate will be posted on Grow Your Own, the UK’s top fruit- and veg-growing magazine. You will be highly organised, driven and knowledgeable about what makes the women’s interest magazine sector commercial, appealing and relevant in 2018.

If you are educated to degree level, have a penchant for writing well researched, engaging copy for our target readership, and a head full of relevant feature ideas, then you could be just what we’re looking for. With a keen eye for detail, an excellent grasp of grammar and an ability to create content that will excite and entertain our readers and followers, you’ll be also be competent at fulfilling a brief and hitting multiple deadlines throughout the month.

You will need to be as at home commissioning a horticultural expert’s column as you are at subbing and proofing copy written by contributors, advertisers and your team, selecting great images and liaising with our in-house design team on a page layout. A positive, can-do attitude will aid you in supporting the editor in all aspects of production, from commissioning and briefing contributors to supporting advertising and promotions departments with commercial ideas. All the while you have the target reader firmly in the forefront of your mind.

A whizz on social media, you’ll know just the right hook to appeal to our followers and you will be as comfortable writing an engaging blog post for online and social media as you are researching and writing a 1,000 word growing guide for the printed publication.
