We are seeking a dynamic deputy editor with a can-do attitude and the desire to make a difference.

The HR brand comprises an award-winning monthly magazine with a circulation of 10,000, a strong digital presence, including a daily news bulletin, powered by the industry’s leading website, which serves 100,000 unique users a month. It also hosts thought-provoking, editorially led webinars and prestigious live events, including the industry’s leading awards scheme.

HR has been established for more than 25 years and is staffed by an editorial team of five.

Role summary

You will be a self-starter who can manage both tight deadlines and people, be able to demonstrate commercial acumen and possess the ability to generate and execute creative concepts. Exceptional writing and organisational skills are a must, as the role requires someone who can write and commission original, compelling features on topics ranging from the rise of performance enhancing smart drugs, race in the workplace, gender pay gap reporting and sexual harassment and bullying.

You will also have a strong news background, the ability to analyse data, a deep knowledge of digital publishing/social media and a knack of spotting the best ways to make the most out of content.

This is a role for someone who thrives on detail while always seeing the bigger picture. It requires someone with an innate ability to multitask and build relationships, who has plenty of energy and a desire to take ownership of certain parts of the brand and be a trusted brand ambassador at events.

Candidate profile

The successful candidate is likely to already be a deputy editor, news editor or features editor. However, we are willing to consider ambitious and talented senior reporters or senior feature writers with at least five years editorial experience.
