You will be working as part of the global editorial team of Labels & Labeling, the leading trade magazine for the label and package printing industry. The magazine, founded 40 years ago, has more than 40,000 readers in 130 countries worldwide, and a global network of editors and contributors. It belongs to the same group as the Labelexpo Global Series of exhibitions and conferences, which runs events worldwide.

Position: Deputy editor, Labels & Labeling magazine

Location: Hammersmith, London

Reporting to: Group managing editor

You will be responsible for writing news and feature articles both for print and online, spearheading our online publishing efforts through our website and portfolio of online newsletters, and interacting with the industry and promoting our content through social media. Regular travel is required, in Europe and beyond, to visit and write articles about label printers, industry suppliers and events.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong journalism experience, desire to travel, and interest in a dynamic, technical, creative and global industry. You will require strong writing, editing and social media skills, as well as a keen work ethic and willingness to take the initiative.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Writing news and feature articles for the magazine, website and newsletters
  • Spearheading our website content – editing press releases and posting articles
  • Regular promotion of our content and interaction with the industry through social media
  • Travelling to label printers and industry suppliers to conduct interviews
  • Accompanying sales colleagues to meetings with industry suppliers
  • Attending and reporting from industry events, mainly in Europe but occasionally further afield

Essential experience:

Minimum of 3 years of journalism experience

Strong track record of social media use

Preferable experience

Printing industry experience preferable, though not essential

Foreign languages are a big plus
