A rare and exciting vacancy has arisen for a digital content editor to work on the York Press, covering one of Britain's most beautiful cities.

York - home to the world-famous Minster, the Shambles and the ancient Viking capital of Jorvik - is one of the most historic and vibrant cities in the UK.

But working in York isn't all about the past. The city has a thriving technology sector and boasts some of the fastest internet speeds in the country.

An independent expert panel set up by The Sunday Times named it as the best place to live in the country - and we wholeheartedly agree.

That's why we are looking for someone who can drive our page views to the next level, as well as helping to produce an award-winning daily newspaper on a busy newsdesk.

The right candidate will be someone who lives and breathes digital - you'll need to know your CrowdTangle from your Chartbeat - and is brimming with good ideas.

You will be expected to lead by example, manage a team of enthusiastic reporters and features writers, take a hands-on approach to news and content gathering and help manage production.

You will have strong experience of working in the regional press, an established background in leading editorial teams, and - above all - a firm grasp of multimedia journalism, digital content development and social media.

If you believe you have the experience, skills and abilities to take on this exciting role, then email a copy of your CV to group editor, Nigel Burton at: nigel.burton@nqyne.co.uk

Closing date for applications: Friday, February 14, 2020.
