We are seeking an outstanding digital reporter to cover the exciting patch of South Cumbria in one of Newsquest's biggest and fastest-growing publishing centres.

You will join Newsquest Cumbria, publishers of The Westmorland Gazette, The Mail, The Cumberland and Westmorland GazetteThe News and Star, The Cumberland News, The Whitehaven News and the Times and Star breaking agenda-setting news on one of the most exciting patches in the UK.

We need someone with an excellent knowledge and passion for breaking exclusive news, as well as the ability to write engaging and sparkling copy to tight deadlines. You will also share a passion for digital storytelling.

Shorthand and a senior qualification in journalism are highly desirable for this role, although truly outstanding trainees would be considered. A driving licence and access to a car is also desirable.

In return, you will get to cover Carlisle and West Cumbria for our portfolio of brands at one of the most important times in our history as the area contends with ambitious regeneration projects while dealing with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. There has never been a more exciting time to have a front row seat for the vital decisions our leaders will make in these unprecedented times.
