Editor of Hotel F&B / Editor of Sports & Leisure Catering
H2O Publishing is searching for the ideal candidate to take control of Hotel F&B, its leading monthly hotel food and beverage title, and Sports & Leisure Catering (SLC), the bi-monthly magazine that documents the fast-paced world of sports and leisure hospitality.
This unique role offers some of the most exciting variety in B2B journalism. The editor will be expected to regularly visit market-leading hotels across the country, as well as experience/document the ground-breaking catering facilities that the UK’s stadia and leisure destinations have to offer. Recent examples include Club Wembley, Nobu, the Saatchi Gallery… and even some hotels in Thailand and Stockholm. If the Galvin Brothers and Beavertown going into Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium excites you, this position could be for you.
You will be responsible for researching and writing core content within the titles, which will vary from exclusive interviews, focuses on food, drink and new openings, to trends and catering equipment. As well as this, you will be expected to commission freelancers and proofreaders, and constantly monitor food, drink, hotel and stadia activity across the UK, reflecting your knowledge and findings within your writing across print and digital platforms.
You will be in regular contact with trade operators, associations, PRs and suppliers, establishing and continuing the vital relationships needed to create polished content for the titles, as well as enhancing events such as Afternoon Tea of the Year and the SLC Awards.
You will be expected to contribute daily news stories to the magazine websites, while keeping Twitter and Instagram activity targeted, engaging and updated.
As well as delivering fresh-thinking content and ideas that meet the strategy of the editorial director, you should be willing to regularly attend evening events and industry launches. These are predominantly based in London, but you will be encouraged to travel the country and even abroad on occasions. These are just a couple of perks to the role.
H2O Publishing is looking for a proactive, motivated and enthusiastic individual to take control of Hotel F&B and SLC Magazine. The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative and drive, as well as enjoyment in being part of a friendly team. You should be comfortable working independently and leading freelancers/budgets, as well as being ready to take instruction when necessary. The ideal candidate should have experience in writing for/editing a trade publication within the hospitality industry, as well as holding an NCTJ or relevant journalism qualification. Previous work in trade events and awards would also be favourable. You should have experience in (but not limited to):

- Microsoft Office
- Website management
- Social media operations and approach
- Flawless social skills when liaising with readers, clients and PRs
- Strong organisational skills
- Capability to work alone with instruction from the editorial director
- Strong passion for the food, drink and hospitality industry
- Attending press conferences and events in order to generate content
- Developing a network of contacts

- 25 days holiday a year (plus Bank Holidays)
- Contributory pension
- Life Assurance
- Rewards for exceeding job requirements
