Dealreporter, an Acuris company, is seeking a full-time M&A reporter, based in London. The ideal candidate would be an ambitious and competitive M&A journalist looking to write scoops on significant deals involving listed targets across the continent.

The Company:

Acuris powers business growth for financial and professional services firms worldwide. Through events and subscription-based digital services, we provide unique, high-value content that helps our customers to make the best decisions based on the strongest evidence.

Our sector specialists and expert analysts interpret data and intelligence to extract new insights that create business opportunities for our customers. We’re trusted by many of the world’s principal advisory firms, investment banks, law firms, hedge funds, private equity firms and corporates, who rely on our brands to help them understand specialist markets and find ideas for business development.

Founded in 2000, we’re a growing family of information brands united by common characteristics: sector expertise, analytical skill, proprietary data and solutions that are packaged for maximum value. You’ll find our 1,000 staff, including 600 specialist journalists and analysts, in 67 locations around the world.

The Role:

The ideal candidate should enjoy taking on intellectual challenges and have a track record in investigative reporting. The role involves breaking news and analysis throughout the life cycle of a deal as well as covering situations across the equity capital market in EMEA. Our coverage spans from highlighting a potential transaction through to scooping the deal details and analysing reviews by competition authorities.

Previous experience covering the Financial Services sector would be an advantage.

Fast-paced and focused entirely on off-diary reporting, the position requires analytical skill, source-building know-how and a nose for a good lead. The right candidate will be as happy working on a story independently as with a team of sector specialists to cover a company or deal.

We provide concerted training and support to our reporters, allowing them to grow and make a mark in a specialized market. We also offer the possibility to travel across Europe to attend conferences and moderate events.

European languages or a contact book of European advisory sources would be significant advantages.

Key skills:

  • Some experience in a news reporter role, ideally with a focus covering the financial services sector
  • Keen interest in breaking financial news
  • Outstanding networking and source development
  • Strong English-Language news writing skills
  • Knowledge of a second European language would be a plus
