The features editor will be responsible for ensuring that the magazine is packed with great stories on a wide variety of machinery, from group tests of affordable classics to supercars and high-end exotics.

You will be expected to plan, execute and write engaging and accurate stories, on time and on budget to Classic & Sports Cars' authoritative yet entertaining style, as well as commissioning quality freelancers in consultation with the editor in chief and deputy editor.

You will need to be a team player, contributing to the content of the magazine by editing at least one monthly section, as well as helping with the production process where necessary and contributing regularly to our digital channels. A strong knowledge of automotive history is a must and a grasp of the technical side is highly desirable, plus a passion for classics of all ages is a must - at its core, C&SC is all about the cars.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all copy is accurate, entertaining and produced to the highest standards. As such, you’ll need to have perfect spelling and grammar, an excellent eye for detail and the ability to cross-check information from a variety of sources.

Where necessary, you will also be expected to represent the magazine at shows and events, and be comfortable behind a microphone or a lens.

Desired skills and experience:

  • A proven track record of writing engaging and accurate features
  • Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of the market position, tone and values of C&SC
  • Good knowledge of cars and the automotive industry, and classics in particular
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign  
  • Willingness to work anti-social hours and weekends when necessary, to get the magazine to press or to represent the brand at events or on photoshoots
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
