If you’re a qualified writer excited by the world of skin care, nails and cosmetics, then we may have the perfect vacancy for you. The UK’s leading publisher of national beauty trade magazines is recruiting a full time Features Writer.

Largely office based, with occasional weekend / evening work required attending trade events etc., the role is part of a small, highly efficient team of writers considered the best in our business. We produce a high volume of copy to tight deadlines for our trade publications, plus our website. We also assist our marketing team in producing copy for our market-leading beauty trade shows.

You should be qualified to BA or HND level in Journalism or similar; post-graduate journalism qualifications would be beneficial but not essential. The ability to take high quality photographs is also required, although formal photographic qualifications are not necessary.

You will be bright, reliable and trustworthy, and have a conscientious attitude towards work, with the ability to take instruction as well as self-motivate and also support the rest of the team.

You should have some previous knowledge of B2B publications and feel as confident in producing reader-targeted sharp, snappy copy for our products pages as much as in-depth features covering the science and technology of the industry. A genuine passion in the beauty profession is essential although previous experience of writing in this field is not.

A good working knowledge of appropriate computer programmes, e.g. Word, Excel etc, is essential and some knowledge of design software would be beneficial. You must also possess spotless grammatical skills and have a sharp eye for proof reading.

You should have a valid driving license and access to a vehicle for business use.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Researching and writing features

  • Editing press releases for use in our publications and online

  • Proofing editorial layouts

  • Forging positive links with PR companies, representatives and clients

  • Meeting strict deadlines

  • Visiting clients and companies for editorial requirements

  • Attending product launches, press days etc. when required

  • Assisting senior members of the team in administrative tasks

  • Assisting at our trade events

Salary is dependent upon experience, working 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm).
