MailOnline, the world’s largest English-language newspaper website with over 225 million monthly unique visitors globally, is looking for an experienced and talented freelance journalist, who is both fluent in English and Mandarin, to join the China News desk in the London bureau.

You should have a strong interest in international news - especially news from Asia - and substantial newsroom experience. Successful candidates should have proven experience of translating news stories from Simplified/Traditional Chinese into English. They should also have a track record of finding and breaking their own stories on Chinese social topics, from the Yulin Dog Meat Festival to Chinese billionaires’ lifestyle.

Applicants must be able to deliver vibrant, clean copy to very tight deadlines for this office-based web production role.

Requirements include:

  • Ability to generate strong headlines and engaging, original content
  • Strong interest in international news
  • Keen eye for photographs and solid production skills
  • Ability to work in a rolling news environment and to multiple deadlines
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English
