Role Summary:

The world’s leading provider of real-time financial commentary is seeking a columnist to lead its agenda-setting coverage of German business, finance, economics and policy. This is an opportunity to shape the agenda on Europe’s largest economy at a time of unprecedented change in the euro zone and the world.

Building on our long-established reputation for speed, accuracy, clarity and insight, you will craft incisive views on deals, corporate strategy, economics and policy. You must have razor-sharp analytical skills and the ability to tackle complex concepts with lively, engaging arguments.

Experience of writing in English is essential, as is an understanding of finance and a reliable stream of original ideas.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Researching and writing strong, original views on German business, finance and economics – both responding rapidly to breaking news and setting the agenda

  • Presenting ideas in fresh and interesting ways, including the use of interactive graphics

  • Developing contacts with senior executives, financiers and policymakers

  • Working with columnists and editors elsewhere in Europe to explore cross-border themes

Key Relationships:

  • Senior executives, corporate financiers, investors, and policymakers

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • A firm grasp of the German economy and its business and financial landscape

  • Fluent German

  • The ability to formulate strong, well-argued opinions under tight deadlines

Desired Skills & Experience: - A base of high-level contacts among bankers, investors and policymakers

  • Experience of presenting your views to a sophisticated financial audience
