Industry Editor, Consumer News

The Role: S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking an Industry Editor for our London office who can deliver thought-provoking, insightful news and features related to the Consumer Staples & Discretionary sector across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. On a daily basis, you will edit news articles and features for accuracy, style and content, adhering to tight deadlines. You will help shape our daily content by developing fresh story ideas; delivering sharp, concise content; and prioritizing news coverage. You will also use your strong leadership skills to coach and mentor team members, including a team of reporters in our London bureau.

The Impact: Our real-time, subscription-based news service reaches an influential readership that includes coverage on companies that manufacture, distribute and sell consumer products ranging from apparel and footwear to luxury goods; computers and electronics to home furnishings; vehicles and automotive parts to food and agricultural products; and much more.

The Team: With more than 250 reporters and editors across five continents, our Industry Editors have the opportunity every day to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and are able to develop a close team dynamic with co-workers from around the globe.


  • Proven business journalism experience.
  • Exceptional editing skills, with an ability to deliver sharp, concise content to daily deadlines.
  • An understanding of the consumer, business or financial sector is preferred.
  • 2+ years management experience preferred.
  • Command of journalistic best practices (AP style, libel issues, etc.)
  • Must have an affinity for analyzing numbers, using in-house data intelligence, financial reports and other industry information.
  • Fluency in English necessary, plus knowledge of at least one other major European language is desirable, but not essential.
