Duties and Responsibilities

This position offers a unique opportunity for a journalist to further their career within a successful, dynamic media company. As a Magazine Journalist you will play a key role in the editorial team, assisting with both the printed publications and the online platforms. Knowledge or interest in the entertainment technology sector or live music production industry is preferable but not essential; however, you will have the strength and ability to adapt quickly to the subject matter in hand.

You will be responsible for sub-editing press releases, so excellent spelling and punctuation skills are essential, as well as attention to detail in order to adhere to our house-style. Once comfortable with the subject matter, you will be encouraged to utilise your writing skills to contribute original content to the magazines. You will be required to liaise with PR agents and marketing departments to source stories and will conduct face-to-face meetings / interviews during tradeshows and organised company visits.

The position will involve working on the magazine production as a whole, including contributing to layout design. A working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign would be an advantage, although it is not essential. Experience of photography would also be favourable.

Throughout the month, and particularly when deadlines are approaching, you will use your initiative and be a consistent support. You will work as part of a very close-knit team, liaising with the magazine’s advertising and sponsorship staff and Mondiale’s in-house production department.

The Ideal Candidate

Educated to degree level or above in Journalism, Media Studies or English, the successful candidate will be hard working, self-motivated and willing to work flexibly in order to maintain the high standards established at these fast-paced trade magazines. The ideal candidate will have carried out multiple internships in the journalism field during their degree or will have been working in a professional environment for at least two years.

You will be highly organised, punctual, enthusiastic and excited at the prospect of joining the well-established titles. Applicants should be confident to work as an individual, bringing innovative ideas and journalistic flair to the role, as well as a strong desire to work in and learn about the entertainment technology sector or live music production industry. The fundamental ability to work as a team player is also vital.

The closing date for this position is 31 August 2018.
