The company:

CGTN – the China Global Television Network, its six TV channels – English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian and Documentary, and its digital media platforms were launched on December 31, 2016.

CGTN Europe is a fresh multimedia news channel from a modern, purpose-built newsroom in London’s Chiswick Business Park. It will join the other regional CGTN hubs in Beijing, Nairobi and Washington DC in helping the network to set the news agenda across the UK and Europe, by broadcasting and publishing award-winning news and current affairs content that will provide a fresh take on European political, economic, social and cultural affairs.

The role:

We are now seeking a media manager to join the new team in London.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the editorial team to coordinate the flow of the video production for the daily broadcast;
  • Set up the daily feeds; and
  • Archive material, programs and news packages from a variety of sources (e.g. outside correspondents, other production centres within CGTN etc.).

The person:

With considerable experience working as a media manager within the broadcast industry, you will have an extensive knowledge of current video delivery methods including FTP, inter-site transfer methods and direct delivery by satellite/fibre.

You will also:

  • Have a complete understanding of how the news works on social media;
  • Must be familiar with naming conventions as well as the various standards of video format, i.e. HD/SD NTSC/PAL 1080i and so on;
  • Possess a clear understanding of TV news production including editorial, logistical and operational techniques;
  • Knowledge of and experience with IT tools to perform these tasks is desirable; and
  • Excel at work within a culturally and ethnically diverse staff.
