The Falmouth Packet is looking for a multimedia senior reporter/reporter to join its talented team in Cornwall.
We are looking for a talented journalist with the desire to take their career to the next level.
We want someone who can hunt down great off-diary stories, write compelling copy, run a live blog, take a picture and turn their hand to video.
He or she will need to work with a 'web first' mindset, including compelling 'web'-style headlines and uploading content to the required deadlines and understand and be active on social media.
You will be based in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, with access to surfing, sailing and kayaking on your doorstep.
Falmouth also has plenty to do of an evening, thanks to its young student population, with live music a regular weekly fixture and a huge variety of restaurants.
Your role will be a varied one: one minute you will be covering court, the next out taking photos at an event or interviewing neighbours about a dispute. And we are not adverse to a fun, quirky story.
At the heart of it all will be the community you live and work in and you will be encouraged to get out there and make strong contacts.
The job will include occasional evening work, and if something breaks we will expect you to be there at the front line bringing live coverage first to our readers.
We are looking for passion and someone who thrives on the adrenaline rush of a breaking news story; this is not your average 9 to 5 office job.
A driving licence is essential.
Apply to Diarmuid MacDonagh at: firstname.lastname@example.org
The closing date is 7 October.
