Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) is looking for a national press officer to manage and develop its media profile. Located in the General Secretary’s Office, you will have a proven background of working with journalists.
You will have a deep understanding of how the media works and the editorial steer of different outlets, combined with excellent news sense and the talent to spot a good story.
Exceptional writing skills are a must, as is the ability to write for diverse audiences and provide support and advice to senior officers and activists at all levels.
This is a high profile role in an often fast-moving environment, therefore your ability to use sound judgement and decision making skills in dealing swiftly with press enquiries are crucial.
In addition to an excellent track record in gaining positive media coverage, you will have an interest in and understanding of trade unions and the issues facing PCS’s members.
