Going Underground, RT UK’s flagship global news and current affairs show, is looking for a full time, London-based news/current affairs producer, on a 1 year contract with a view to becoming permanent.

The successful candidate will be someone with the talent and skills to question more than mainstream journalists. They will be writing and editing scripts, initiating and researching stories, and finding and liaising with guests, all with the verve of a revolutionary, and a healthy scepticism of power. The candidate should be incredibly passionate about politics, as well as science, history, economics, art and music.

A producer on Going Underground is dynamic, energetic, with some experience working in current affairs, news or culture. They demonstrate great editorial judgement, the strongest written and communication skills and the ability to work both on their own and as part of a team. All of our staff are expected to be ready to go beyond what is essential for the role (working odd hours, occasionally weekends and holidays). We expect the successful candidate to research their own stories, build relationships and nurture a wide network of contacts, pitch original ideas and follow the news as it develops.

The position is based in our London Millbank Studios.

RT is an English language 24 hour TV news channel broadcasting from Moscow and London. The channel brings an alternative news agenda to the audience of more than 600 million people around the globe delivering stories often missed by the mainstream media to create news with an edge.
