The Role: News Desk Manager, EMEA Financial Industries

We are looking for an energetic leader with an understanding of the sector, regulatory, macroeconomic and technological trends affecting the banking and financial services industries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The right candidate is a strong leader with a sharp editorial eye and a proven ability to deliver real-time news on tight deadlines and oversee the production of well-researched and crafted analytical pieces incorporating the wealth of data available at S&P Global Market Intelligence.

The Impact

The successful candidate will help map out a long-term vision to further develop and deepen our coverage of EMEA financial institutions, motivating a team of experienced reporters, writers and other editors to produce highly original, data-led features, award-winning investigative projects, engaging data visualisations and accurate real-time news coverage. The News Desk Manager will collaborate with other desks across sectors and regions on editorial projects to ensure we continuously improve the value of our editorial offering and optimise resources. This role also represents our EMEA financial institutions news product within the broader company, interfacing regularly with colleagues in our Marketing and Commercial organisations. 

Requirements: 

Experience editing business news content is essential and a solid grasp of the European and wider financial sector would be an advantage. Candidates must be proven leaders with excellent collaboration skills and ability to work with globally diverse teams and individuals; experience directly managing a team; experience providing feedback and coaching; strong understanding of financial markets and world events; an ability to work in a fast-paced, web-focused newsroom; and fluency in English. Knowledge of at least one other major European language would be a differentiator but is not required.
