Construction News is a multi-award winning, digital-first title with a weekly print magazine. We publish breaking news, analysis and evening briefings online daily. Whether it’s HS2, housing, Heathrow or Hinkley Point, CN takes a closer look at the major infrastructure the UK requires at a time when it is of huge economic, social and political importance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of reporters and analysts to research and write award-winning and sector-leading news and analysis.

  • Researching and writing outstanding news and analysis; editing copy; line managing reporters; and working on online and print design.

  • Break agenda-setting news stories

  • You will interview chief executives and cabinet ministers one day, and see first-hand the work that goes into creating some of the UK’s most prestigious construction projects the next.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in B2B publishing preferable and at least 2-3 years of producing outstanding news content

  • Experience of subbing and line managing preferable

  • 100 wpm shorthand (preferable)

  • Proven ability to secure industry-leading exclusives and make outstanding contacts in your field

  • Knowledge of, or experience in, the construction and property industries would be beneficial, but is not a must

You will need to demonstrate leadership qualities, outstanding contact-building skills and an insatiable appetite to help CN continue to grow as the market’s leading title.

You will insist on being first with the biggest stories in our industry. You will be diligent, organised and full of ideas. The right candidate will want to write the biggest exclusive stories, but also work with a close-knit team to develop line reports’ skills.
