RT’s UK office is looking for a London-based news producer to cover a 9 month maternity leave with the possibility to go into a similar, permanent role afterwards.

Education to degree level, a minimum of 2 year experience in working for TV, newspaper or online journalism projects are essential together with an in-depth knowledge of politics, history and culture of both the UK and the rest of the world.

The successful candidates will be dynamic, energetic and required to produce news and current affairs content to extremely tight deadlines.

They will demonstrate great editorial judgement, strong writing and communication skills and the ability to work both on their own and as part of a team.

All of our staff are expected to be ready to go beyond what is essential for the role (working odd hours, occasionally weekends and holidays).

News producers will be expected to research stories for the daily news broadcast, invite relevant guest speakers for live and pre-recorded interviews and follow story developments.

They will also be required to assist correspondents or camera crews in organising filming when needed, book experts for reports and conduct interviews. 

A producer is also responsible for searching events to include in both short and long-term planning of the news agenda and generating and pitching ideas.

The successful candidate will have their own contact database and the right to work in the UK.

RT is an English language 24 hour TV news channel broadcasting from Moscow and London.

The channel brings an alternative news agenda to the audience of more than 600 million people around the globe delivering stories often missed by the mainstream media to create news with an edge.
