The Digger magazine in Glasgow is looking for a full-time reporter.
The ideal candidate will be based in Glasgow, in order to report from the Sheriff and High Courts, and from our office in the city.
Proficient shorthand and some experience in court reporting is preferable.
We’re looking for someone with a portfolio of clippings, ideally demonstrating a knowledge of breaking news and court procedures.
The Digger magazine is an independent news magazine focusing on crime and the courts.
We have a readership of about 20,000, mainly on the west coast of Scotland.
We cover gangs, drugs, prisons, courts and police.
This is a position for someone who is curious about the roots of societal problems.
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a can-do attitude who cares about the stories they write. If you can pitch ideas, investigate court cases and take them beyond what is said in court, this could be the position for you.
Your skills will include the ability to cultivate contacts, adapt to IT systems, turn notes into crisp copy and meet deadlines.
Salary from £28K, with career progression possible depending on performance.
