  • Ability to maintain personal effectiveness in times of pressure, setbacks, or when dealing with tough situations
  • Confidence in using video to tell a story; the candidate can spot great video content without being prompted
  • Someone who can work unsupervised, but be a key part of the team
  • Someone who is driven by new technologies and ways of delivering information – our newsroom evolves with the times, and our team is expected to be ahead of that evolution, constantly striving to bring a media-savvy approach to news coverage

Responsibilities:

  • Finding creative ways of telling stories – and always being open to trying new things
  • Preparing live interviews
  • Being across all forms of newsgathering, staying on top of each story that is assigned
  • Monitoring incoming news and video, alerting others of updates and breaking news
  • Producing a visually creative and factually accurate news broadcast for our audiences across the UK

  • Those who shy away from deadlines – if you don’t like working under pressure, this job isn’t for you
  • Journalists who are stuck in their ways and aren’t open to exploring new formats of TV news
  • Aspiring investigative journalists, budding TV presenters or future field producers – if you’re not happy behind a desk, you won’t be happy in this job
  • Someone who’s after a 9-5 lifestyle

Qualifications/requirements:

  • Experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Native or fluent English, excellent spelling and grammar are a MUST
  • Right to work in the UK

Application requirements:

  • Covering letter explaining why you are the perfect candidate
  • A short pitch for a TV news story and why RT UK would be the perfect platform to cover it (Some questions to consider (but don’t let them limit you!) - What footage would we use? What graphics content would be involved? How will our coverage differ to that of other channels?)
  • An up-to-date CV
