Position: Output Editor, Video News**
Reuters is recruiting an output editor for its agency video news services that run on more than 1,000 TV channels around the world and hundreds more online subscribers. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the editorial quality of our product and driving both journalistic quality and speedy delivery. This is a senior newsroom role which will be expected to drive the story forward on a daily basis and making a substantial contribution to the debate about how we cover our stories, what elements are needed and how they perform. Working a daytime shift pattern that will also involve weekends, the Output Editor will play a central role in coordinating workload between regional processing centres and a critical one in ensuring that the highest technical and journalistic standards are maintained. It requires someone who can combine energy with a passion for the story and mastery of detail.\
The role will report to the head of our London newsroom and will work closely with the Global Head of Output. The position will involve working with regional editors and territorial video news managers on spot stories, trends, quality and enhancing the journalistic integrity of our coverage. Close collaboration with Text and visuals colleagues on stories.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Extensive experience in video newsgathering.
Solid news judgment, ability to take an angle and develop it innovatively.
Strong visual storytelling skills.
Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate local and remote teams.
Strong communication skills.
Solid understanding of the wholesale news video market.
Understanding of the needs of digital clients.
Solid writing skills.
Ability to edit news video.
An eye for detail.
Experience managing teams
Exceptional organization skills – must be comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced newsroom and prioritizing and working to deadlines
Desired Skills and Experience:
Fluency in any of the major global language groups
Knowledge of Reuters News competitors
Newsroom/planning experience in agency and/or broadcast news gathering
- Education to first degree level is essential
