The award-winning St Helens Star and Wirral Globe are looking for a part-time print content editor to help drive their weekly newspaper titles through an exciting period of growth.
This is a new and key role within the Merseyside team and we are looking for a passionate senior journalist to assist in leading our print operation as we look to further cement our position as St Helens and Wirral’s leading source of news and sport for the area.
We have big plans for both titles, with increased pagination and new content initiatives in the pipeline to develop our excellent relationships in the communities we serve.
Working closely with other newsroom leaders, you will oversee the smooth production and outputting of the print editions of the Star and Globe.
You will be enthusiastic about our print titles with a first-rate news sense and strong proofing and subbing skills to help make the daily page flow and production process a smooth one. InDesign skills would be welcome but not essential.
The ideal candidate will be a senior NCE/NQJ qualified journalist and be someone who lives and breathes quality news and has a passion for print, allowing others to focus their attention on digital. You will also be willing to provide support in the absence of the editor and fellow audience and content editor colleagues.
As part of Newsquest, you will join one of the biggest publishing companies in the UK during a period of major transformation, in both print and online.
The role will be three days per week (22.5hrs) with a competitive salary and benefits, along with the flexibility of joint home and office working once our regional office in Warrington reopens.
If this sounds like the job for you apply with your CV and brief covering letter to editor Andrew Kilmurray via firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 13 August.
