Real Deals Media is looking for a reporter with experience of financial journalism, ideally in private markets, to join its private equity title Real Deals. 

This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic reporter with strong networking skills to join a thriving news media title with an outstanding reputation and strong growth prospects. 

We are a highly entrepreneurial team, which means there are endless opportunities for you to make your mark, whether through creating new content offerings or initiating new ways of working. 

A reporter on Real Deals is expected to work independently to source articles and meet deadlines but also work collaboratively with their team to meet objectives.    

Responsibilities include:

Content:

  • Find and write daily news, with a focus on looking beyond press releases and obtaining proprietary information
  • Produce regular news analysis content 
  • Write editorial leaders and support the production of newsletters 
  • Produce regular long-form analysis and market trend features and interviews
  • Support the production of the print magazine and regular reports
  • Pitch new ideas for online and video/audio content

Events:

  • Attend and report on key sector conferences, webinars and events, including international travel
  • Networking

Industry development:

  • Develop your network and build relationships across the private equity market
  • Increase awareness of our brand across the industry
  • Represent our brand at events (our own and industry events)
  • Collaborate with the sister publication, The Drawdown
  • Work with various people and divisions around the business to support our commercial activities and event production 

Social Media:

  • Support the promotion of content by regularly posting on social media (LinkedIn mostly for our readership)
  • Grow social media following and engagement 

Opportunities:

  • Produce content across various platforms, including podcasts, webinars and virtual events
  • Become an expert in a fast evolving and increasingly important financial market 
  • Own your beat that interests you most and meets the needs of the publication

Skills, attributes and experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a business or finance multimedia journalist
  • Clear and concise writing ability
  • Strong relationship building skills 
  • Confident interviewing ability 
  • Ability to write news stories quickly and accurately 
  • A true team player - regular communication, flexibility and insight sharing
  • Ability to understand and translate complex topics 
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to source off-diary stories
  • Reliable, accountable, self-starter and the ability to motivate yourself while working in the office or remotely  
  • Strong research skills
  • Comfortable using social media to network and promote stories 

Preferred skills, but not essential: 

  • Prior podcast/video/webinar experience or readiness to learn 
  • Commercial acumen
