Are you a top-class journalist with a passionate for sport in the North-East? Then the Great Daily of the North wants to hear from you.

The Northern Echo, Newsquest's flagship daily title, is looking for a digital sports journalist to help make our already extensive coverage of North-East sport even better.

To be considered for the role, you will be passionate and knowledgeable about all aspects of North-East sport, but in particular you will be football crazy and have an in-depth understanding of the North-East football scene and know what makes North-East football fans tick.

You will be at home in the world of digital media, and attuned to how to create and publish a story online and optimise its chance of reaching the widest possible audience.

One minute you will be digging into Newcastle United's latest transfer targets, the next you will be assessing Neil Warnock's tactics at Boro or reporting on the Black Cats' weekend prospects. Either way, you will be finding exciting, innovative ways to get to the heart of North-East sport.

The job would suit an outstanding trainee (with NCTJ prelims, including shorthand) looking to cut their teeth on one of the country's leading regional news brands. A driving licence is essential.

If this sounds like the job for you, email your CV and a brief covering letter to the editor at karl.holbrook@newsquest.co.uk by 8 March.
