Salary: £25,206 per annum, plus £2,500 London Weighting Allowance per annum

Working Hours: Minimum of 35 hours per week

Details: 7 Month Fixed Term Contract from January to August 2019

Job Summary:

The UK’s only weekly evangelistic magazine The War Cry has a vacancy for a staff writer to join its highly professional and creative team of Christian journalists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • research and create original copy
  • write articles of a Christian evangelical nature
  • locate and suggest suitable material for publication
  • carry out reporting engagements
  • conduct interviews for publication
  • transcribe audio files
  • proofread pages in preparation for publication
  • assist in the publishing of the electronic version of The War Cry

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • the ability to deal professionally with media contacts, contributors and members of the public
  • written and spoken English to a high standard
  • the ability to work to deadlines
  • the ability to work flexibly within a dedicated team
  • punctuality and effective time management

This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian and will be in sympathy with the doctrines of, and supportive of, the purposes and the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army.
