Hurst Media Company, an independent media company which specialises in lifestyle publishing, is seeking a versatile Staff Writer to get involved with our portfolio of titles.

These titles include The Countryside Experience and Arts, Antiques & Collectibles – both of which go out with The Telegraph. As well as Celebrity Secrets, a celebrity-themed lifestyle magazine, which is distributed with OK! magazine bumper packs.

We are also in the process of launching a financial start-up magazine targeting SMEs. The sheer breadth of content we produce means that versatility is a must.

You will be expected to write across print and online for all titles, build relationships with PRs, manage the online content via a WordPress CMS, subedit raw copy and proof finished pages.

You will also be expected to represent the brand at events, find relevant interviewees, put together the digital newsletter and be involved with the planning of photoshoots.

The role will involve you managing and working alongside an Editorial Assistant so managerial experience is a must. It is also vital that you have experience commissioning work to freelancers and managing their incoming copy to tight deadlines.

In addition, you will be expected to manage our corporate communications. This includes writing news stories and client-facing copy for our trade site, putting together press releases, and liaising with our advertising partners to include them in editorial copy when appropriate and proofread all incoming advertorials. All this means strong organisational skills are essential to the role along with a firm grasp of media law.

This is the perfect role for someone who has been working in an editorial role for a minimum of two years and is looking to develop their media career further, ideally you will have a degree in a relevant subject, and experience writing across a variety of titles will be advantageous.

We are looking for an energetic, driven individual with a passion to take our publications to the next level. Candidates are expected to be familiar with our titles and the celebrity lifestyle magazine sector in general.
